The first Italian edition of the picaresque novel La pícara Justina, first printed in Medina del Campo in 1605. While inspired by Mateo Alemán's highly influential Guzmán de Alfarache (1604), La pícara Justina is notable in the picaresque genre for featuring a female protagonist instead of the traditional male one. The present Italian translation was curated by the Cremonese printer and translator Barezzo Barezzi, who is credited for introducing the picaresque genre into Italy.
